Upper Campus students will remain on campus during construction.

We know this is an important question for families of students who will experience the greatest impact of the project, and I'm pleased to confirm that Upper Campus students will remain on campus throughout construction.

This decision has been a central priority in our planning. We have approached it thoughtfully, carefully considering what will best preserve the continuity and quality of the Pinewood experience for our students.

Keeping students on campus means we can continue to foster the academics, athletics, arts, leadership, relationships, and community traditions that make Pinewood distinctive even as significant transformation takes place around them.

We know that construction will bring change, and we are planning carefully to make that experience as seamless, safe, and positive as possible. As plans are finalized, we will provide affected families with additional information about campus logistics, access, schedules, and what to expect during construction.Planning and Community Engagement

Since 2024, Pinewood has engaged in a collaborative planning process with both the school community and the Town of Los Altos Hills, including planning staff, the Planning Commission, and other appointed committees. Early feedback from these groups helped meaningfully shape and strengthen the project.

Input from our neighbors has been equally important. Through one-on-one meetings, small group discussions, campus visits, and gatherings hosted in neighbors’ homes, we received thoughtful and largely positive feedback. This engagement played a key role in refining the project and ensuring it reflects shared priorities.

Pinewood has selected Truebeck Construction as our construction partner.

Following a comprehensive selection process, Pinewood has officially selected Truebeck Construction to lead construction of the new Upper Campus.

We were particularly impressed by Truebeck's experience managing sophisticated projects in complex educational environments while keeping learning communities operational. Its portfolio includes work with Castilleja, Crystal Springs, Charles Armstrong School, Sonoma State, Stanford Health Care, Google, and Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. Just as importantly, Truebeck already knows Pinewood well, having served as the general contractor for our previous Middle Campus renovation and expansion.

Truebeck has been working closely with Pinewood and the broader project team throughout preconstruction, helping guide budgeting, scheduling, logistics, constructability, and value engineering as we prepare for construction.

The overall project timeline currently remains unchanged.

We continue to advance according to the schedule shared in previous updates and remain on track to complete the new Upper Campus within the anticipated timeframe. Our plan continues to limit the most significant disruption to one academic year, while preserving the excellence and continuity of the student experience throughout construction.

The selection of an experienced construction partner, the ability to keep our students on campus, and the confirmation that our timeline remains on track bring us meaningfully closer to realizing the Upper Campus we have envisioned together.

Project Application and Review

In February 2025, Pinewood submitted its formal project application to the Town. Following an initial round of detailed comments and requests for additional information, the project team submitted a revised application in June 2025 after several months of careful refinement.

Town staff subsequently completed a second review, confirming that the application was substantially complete—an important milestone that allowed the project to move forward into the formal review process.

Final Approval and Moving Forward

Pinewood has reached a historic milestone in the Upper Campus modernization project. In April 2026, The Los Altos Hills City Council voted unanimously to approve the project, including an additional enrollment increase of 75 high school students—securing the final municipal approval needed to move forward.

This achievement reflects years of thoughtful planning, collaboration with Town staff and leadership, and the meaningful engagement of our broader community. We are deeply grateful to the City Council and staff for their careful review and partnership throughout this process.

With approvals now in place, the project is advancing in alignment with the timeline previously shared. Pinewood has begun the process of identifying and selecting a construction partner to bring the vision for the new Upper Campus to life. This phase marks an important step toward construction and the realization of a campus designed to support future generations of students.
